Executive powers of the President
 











Executive powers :

Under article 53 of the constitution the executive power of the union is vested in the President who is empowered to exercise it directly or through officers subordinate to him.

The powers of the President broadly classified into following 7 categories.
1. Executive powers 2. Legislative powers 3. Judicial powers 4. Financial powers 5.The Millitary powers 6.The Diplomatic Powers 7.Emergency powers

Executive powers:-

The constitution vests the executive power of the union into the President.
Article 53 (i) and article 78(b) of the constitution deals with the executive powers of the President.
The President is the formal head of the administration as such all executive action of the union must be expressed to be taken in the name of the President. Article 53 (i) -Though he may not be the real head of the administration all officers of the union shall be his subordinates.
Article. 78 (b)-He shall have a right to be informed of the affairs of the union.
Executive powers
He has the powers to appoint the prime minister of India, other ministers of the union, the attorney general for India, the Comptroller and auditor general of India, the judges of the supreme court and high court's, the governor of a state, the finance commission, the chief election commissioner and other members of the commission
The President have the powers to remove 
i-his ministers individually
ii-the attorney general
iii- the governor of a state
iv- the chairman or a member of the public service commission on the report of the supreme court
v- a judge of the supreme court or of a high court or the election commissioner on an address of parliament.
