Who is Raghuvar Das ?

An employee of Tata Steel, he served as the member of legislative assembly 5 times, he was representing Jamshedpur East since 1995 to 2019. He also served as the Deputy Chief Minister and the Urban Development Minister during the BJP-led government in the state. During internal emergency, he was sent behind the bars. He is the first chief minister of the state to have completed a full term.
Raghubar Das (born 3 May 1955) is an Indian politician who is serving as the 26th Governor of Odisha. Das has previously served as the sixth Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He was sworn in as the 6th chief minister of Jharkhand on 28 December 2014. He belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party and has twice served as the president of Jharkhand BJP.
In 1980, Das actively engaged in the inaugural National Committee meeting of the BJP in Mumbai. His dedication led to his appointment as the chief of the Sitaramdera unit in Jamshedpur. He was also an active RSS volunteer. Over the years, he ascended through the party ranks, serving as the city chief secretary, vice president of Jamshedpur, BJP secretary, and eventually becoming the vice president of the party.

Political Career Of Raghuvar Das 

Raghuvar Das spent his childhood in his absence, due to which he started his journey as a laborer in Jamshedpur's Tata Steel rolling mill. Raghuvar Das's political journey has been very interesting till the Tata Steel employee became the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Raghuvar Das is the first non-tribal chief minister of Jharkhand.

Raghuvar Das first contested from Jamshedpur (East) on the BJP ticket in 1995 and won the election. Raghuvar Das, who has been a four-time MLA, has been Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand from December 30, 2009 to May 29, 2010. In the former government of NDA, he was also given the minister's post. Raghuvar Das is considered part of Amit Shah's team.

        As BJP's organizer, he has played a key role in BJP's victory in many states. Raghuvar Das is surely counted among BJP's key leaders, but they have no direct links to RSS or other affiliates. Raghuvar Das remained in touch with socialist student organizations during the student movement of 1974.


        After that, the BJP gave him many responsibilities after the BJP got hold of him, which he did brilliantly. He contested on the ticket of Bharatiya Janata Party from 'Jamshedpur East' seat in the 2014 election and he was elected by defeating Anand Bihari Dubey, Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 70157 votes and appointed the sixth Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Expressing gratitude to the party after being elected for the post of Chief Minister, he said that it is only possible in the BJP that a laborer's laborer son can imagine being able to become Chief Minister, President or Prime Minister in this party.

        Raghuvar Das was the Labor Minister of the state from November 15, 2000 to March 17, 2003; then from March 2003 to 14 July 2004, he will be the Minister of Construction and from 12 March 2005 to 14 September 2006, Finance, Commerce and Nagar of Jharkhand Development Minister. Meanwhile, from July 2004 to May 2005, he was the state president of BJP and later retired from January 19, 2009 to September 25, 2010.

 He served as Deputy Chief Minister, Finance, Commerce Tax, Energy, Urban Development, Housing and Parliamentary Affairs in the BJP coalition government formed with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, from December 30, 2009 to May 30, 2010. Recently, on 16th August, 2014, he became the national vice president of BJP in the team headed by Amit Shah.

        Raghuvar Das started his career as a laborer in the rolling mill of Tata Steel and then he was sorted out. After this he joined politics. His wife and his son are the sons of Das who studied BSc and LLB from Jamshedpur. His daughter is married.
