Official Visit of External Affairs Minister to Bangladesh and Bhutan

Dr. S Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar will pay an official visit to Bangladesh and Bhutan from 28 to 30th April. During the visit, Dr Jaishankar will call on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

He will also hold discussions with Bangladesh Foreign Minister A K Abdul Momen. The last visit by him to Bangladesh was in March last year.

 

Dr Jaishankar will be Bhutan’s first high-level visitor from abroad since March 2020, reflecting the great importance both countries attach to this bilateral relationship.

 During the visit, the External Affairs Minister will receive an audience with King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and call on Bhutan Prime Minister Dr. Lotay Tshering. He will also meet his Bhutan counterpart Dr. Tandi Dorji.

 

India and Bhutan share a unique and time tested bilateral relationship, characterized by utmost trust, goodwill and mutual understanding.

ONGC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Equinor, the Norwegian state-owned multinational energy company. 

The MoU was inked in New Delhi yesterday.

 For collaboration and partnership in areas of upstream exploration and production, midstream, downstream and Clean energy options.

New Appointment -On November 30 ,2021 took over as India's new Navy chief succeeding Admiral Karambir Singh.

Bio of Admiral Hari Kumar:

Age-59

D.OB-April 12,1962

Commissioned into the executive branch of Navy in January 1983

He was heading Mumbai Based western Naval Command before his elevation.

His Prior appointments:

Earlier he served as chief of integrated defence staff to the chairman,chiefs of staff committee.

His achievements:

He was closely involved with the ongoing theaterisation drive for optimal use of the military's resources.

The warships commanded by him include aircraft carrier INS Viraat,INS Ranvir,INS Nishank and INS kora.

He has undergone courses at the Naval war college,US, Army war college,Mhow and Royal college of Defence studies,UK.

He has been decorated with the Param Vishist Seva Medal, The ati Vishist Seva Medal.
