Key features of the Pitts India Act,1784
- This gave the British Government supreme control over company's affairs and it's administration in India.
- Established dual system of governance.There 24 members in the court of directors to care about company's commercial functions.
- Strength of governor general council reduced to 3.
- To control civil, military and revenue affairs of India Board of Control consisting of 6 parliamentary commissioners appointed.
- This act subordinated the Bombay and Madras presidency to Bengal in all questions of war,diplomacy and revenues.
- First Effective substitution of Parliamentary control over East India company.
